All binaries on Usenet are encoded, either using yEnc or uuencoding. When the binaries are posted in yEnc or uuencoding onto our servers, it is stored in that format. When you download the binaries, it is sent from our servers to you, and we keep track of the amount of data that is sent to you. The data that is downloaded is then decoded by your newsreader software. This can be up to 40% larger than the file when it is saved on your hard disk.
